POST 5: Disco and Soul music

In this post I would like to talk about something that is very important in my life nowadays: music. Personally, music has always been crucial in my life and I´ve always appreciate it. Since I was little, I heard to all kind of music, however, my favorite genre of music it be disco and soul and music from the 70´s.

In this line, when I was just a kid, I liked like a lot ABBA, I was such a huge fan and I knew all of their songs. After it, I started to familiarize with music of that period, and I fell in love.

Now, I´ve realized that most of the disco and soul music come from black culture and music, so I´ve been really interested in understanding the influence of black people into music and I also have realized that most of the music I heard comes from the black community. In such manner, I also hear Brazilian music like bossa nova and jazz and blues. 

Finally, I would like to say that, my formation in sociology has been really useful to understand how black music and culture was born and how has been developing through the years, so I’m currently reading a book that analyze disco music with a sociological point of view: The secret story of Disco.
